The Tennessee Tree Toppers Hang Gliding and Paragliding club was established over 40 years ago in 1977. We are a 501(c)(7) Not-for-Profit club and depend solely on donations and membership dues to cover our operational costs. Over the years, we’ve developed substantial amenities for use by our members, including:
- three phenomenal Hang Gliding and Paragliding launches at two world-class flying sites, Henson Gap and Whitwell,
- a huge 40-acre groomed landing field,
- a heated clubhouse/bunkhouse with kitchen,
- a shower/bath house,
- a pavilion,
- camping spots with electricity, and
- additional acreage for future use.
We began as a hang gliding club. In 2015 we adopted paragliding. Thanks to the generosity of our neighbor, we were able to use their property as a paragliding launch. In 2018, we had a rare opportunity to expand club property by purchasing land adjacent to our world-class Henson Gap ‘Radial Ramp’ from the Burnside family. We began fundraising towards the purchase of this land, and thanks to many generous donors and volunteers, an excellent paragliding launch was created.
As we continue to pay the remainder of our mortgage, costs have increased and membership has fluctuated. Our need for additional contributions is now even more important. Please help us to continue this legacy by donating. Here is how you can help:
Three Ways to Contribute
You can make a non-tax-deductable donation online by clicking the Donate button below. Your browser will be redirected to the Paypal website.
You can donate online to an endowment / “targeted fund” account managed by the Foundation for Free Flight (FFF). They have graciously offered a matching grant of $25,000 to be awarded upon the successful completion of fundraising and purchase of the burnside launch property. Because the FFF is a 501(c)(3) organization, your contributions to this account are tax-deductible.
To make a tax-deductible donation, click on this link Foundation for Free Flight and be sure to select the TTT Dunlap Site – Burnside Properties Endowment Fund
*** Tax deductible contributions for amounts greater than $1000 should be mailed directly to the Foundation at the following address:

Donate by Mail
You may contribute to a local “restricted” savings account with Citizens Tri-County Bank. This account may receive contributions immediately and directly. There are no requirements for deposited funds except their application to the stated goal. The TTT is classified by the IRS as a 501(c)(7) non-taxable organization so, while dedicated contributions to a restricted account for a specific mission-related objective are non taxable to the TTT, they are not tax deductible for the donor.
Checks should be made payable to TN Tree Toppers Free Flight Fund and mailed to the following address:
